WELFARE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
RULES
FOR THE AWARD OF AADLIS STUDENT's WELFARE SCHOLARSHIP
Department
means 'Department of Library & Information Science,
University of Kerala'and Association mean 'Alumni Association
of the Department of Library & Information Science,
University of Kerala'.
1. The Fund may be called the "AADLIS STUDENT WELFARE
SCHOLARSHIP FUND"
2. The corpus fund is presently fixed as Rs.25000/-
(Rupees Twenty Five Thousand) only, which may be increased
from time to time as per the decision of the Executive
Committee of AADLIS.
3. The corpus amount may be deposited as Fixed Deposit
for a period which may fetch the maximum rate in a Nationalized
/ Co-operative Bank as the Executive Committee of the
AADLIS decides, from the total fund generated by the
Association by way of membership fee, admission fee,
donation etc.
4. An amount not exceeding the annual interest receivable
from the corpus fund (rounded off to the nearest lower
100 ) may be annually given as welfare scholarship to
one student of the MLISc (Integrated ) course of the
Department. The frequency of the scholarship can be
increased as the scholarship fund sufficiently grows
in future.
5. The deserving student may be selected for welfare
scholarship from among the students who are admitted
to the first semester of the MLISc (Integrated) course
and who is economically poor and needs assistance for
successfully completing the course. Necessary documents
such as income certificate may be collected from the
student for verifying the economic background.
6. The student so selected should have a consistently
good academic record from SSLC/ Std X onwards as the
case may be and should have scored good marks in the
Entrance Examination of the course also.
7. Application may be called for in the prescribed form
by the Head of the Department for the award of the welfare
scholarship sufficiently in advance to its distribution.
8. The student selected for this welfare scholarship
should not be the recipient of any other scholarship
/ stipend. 9. Sponsored candidates are not eligible
for the welfare scholarship.
10. Before the distribution of the scholarship an undertaking
may be obtained from the student that he will continue
the study and complete the course.
11. If the student discontinues his / her study he /
she will have to refund the amount received as scholarship.
12. During the course of study if any disciplinary proceeding
is initiated against the recipient of the scholarship
and if he / she is punished , then the amount received
as scholarship will have to be refunded by the student.
13. The selection of the student may be made by a selection
committee constituted for this purpose by the executive
Committee.
14. The decision of the President of AADLIS i.e. the
Head of the Department will be final if any dispute
arises on the selection of the student for scholarship.
15. Any deletion / addition to the Rules may be made
by the Executive Committee if it becomes necessary.
