The alumni of the DLIS is spread all over India . A
few are practising abroad. The large majority of them
work in the library and information centres within Kerala.
Almost all the professionals heading the prominent libraries
in the state such as the Kerala State Central Library,
the university libraries, the British Library and the
major research libraries are the products of DLIS. About
1700 trained graduates, post graduates and doctorates
have come out of this Department within its 43 years
of history.
AADLIS
was formally inaugurated on 12 March 2004 as a forum
for fostering the professional development of its members
and for harnessing their potential for the development
of the DLIS. Main activities of AADLIS include:
- organize
annual meets of the Alumni
- Award
scholarships and financial assistance to proficient,
but economically back ward students
- Felicitate
the retired members
- Honour
the members on their achievements
- Organise
continuing education programmes for professional
development
